My favourite modern Disney Movies!

As a remake for Mary Poppins has been announced I decided it was time for me to list my favorite modern Disney movies. I have yet to see Inside Out (I know! You try dragging a 30 year old man to the cinema to see a kids movie, he ain't for budging and I've no kids to use as an excuse!) so I'm sure when I get round to it this list will change a little. Lets focus on the Disney animation movies I have seen, these are my favorite from 2010.

Yes Brave is on my list. I know most people hated it but I'm Scottish damn you and she's great with a bow and arrow. Merida is a young girl, faced with an arranged marriage when she doesn't want one. She wants to be her own person, take on her own destiny, and doesn't need a man to save her. All positive's in my book as these types of movies are focused at young girls and why not show young girls they can do whatever they want with there life. Positive messages all around. Yes the bear bit can be a little silly, but still, great movie.

If you don't cry at the end of this movie you really have no soul (I'm just saying this to make me feel better, I was crying buckets). Great movie which sees our favorite Cowboy and Space Ranger have to deal with Andy going off to college and mistakenly ending up at a daycare, they have to get back home but first must deal with a pink fluffy bear who likes hugs. It is a great movie but get your tissues at the ready, with an ending just as sad as the first fifteen minutes of Up.

Wreck-It Ralph is a great video game movie, even though it isn't based on an actual video game. Ralph is the villain in the arcade game Fix-it Felix, Jr. He wrecks and Felix fixes, pretty simple. But Ralph is fed up being the villain, he wants a gold medal as he feels it will get him respect. This ends up with him leaving his game to go in search of another leading him to Hero Duty, a first person shooter, and Sugar Rush a candy racing kart game. Felix goes to find Ralph as they fear the game will be unplugged without him. It's a great film, and the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope is great,

How can I not talk about modern Disney movies without mentioning the titan which is Frozen. I even own a Frozen shopping bag, and I take it to the shops with me with great pride! Great story, great cast, great songs, great everything. Showing kids and adults alike that love can come in many forms. If you haven't watched it then you're missing out. Great twists and turns, as well as a dancing, talking snowman. I mean come on, its almost at the top of my list. Has a great spin on villains and relationships. A must watch. I don't even need to tell you any specifics just go and watch it.

What Tangled beat Frozen in my list. You bet it did. Everything I said about Frozen exists in this movie. Great story, great cast, great songs. The reason it beats Frozen is the ending. Yes its about a guy and a girl, there's no other forms of love saving all but trust me. The story begins with an abduction, a child being locked in a tower and a whole bunch of freaky powerful hair. Rapunzel at sixteen is a shut in who reads, paints and stares outside and Flynn Rider just happens to run into her as he is on the run from the law. It's a great movie which I don't want to spoil by telling you the ending so just go watch it.

Besides Inside out (remember haven't seen it yet) what is your favorite modern Disney Movie? What did I miss? Now I'm going to have, "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" in my head for the rest of the day... yay!

Mental Illness in TV and Film - Dementors

Image Source Dementors have haunted me ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban way back in 1999. I was a Pre-Teen who was pretty much unaware of the depression that was just around the corner, in a way this book prepared me for what was to come, and after multiple reads, it became my go-to reference when explaining my depression. First off let's give a brief outline of Dementors, these magical wraith-like creatures can generally be found guarding Azkaban Prison, sucking the happiness, hope, and peace out of everyone around them. If you have had a horrible life marked by loss and abuse (just like Harry) you are much more affected by them than someone who has not, as they also cause depression and despair in there victims. They can sense and taste fear, but thankfully they can't seem to tell people of the same build from each other, and they are able to communicate wit

Jessica Jones Episodes 1-2

[Courtesy of Marvel/Netflix] Jessica Jones launched this Friday and after a weekend of mostly binge watching I decided it was time to talk about it. I really enjoyed this show and will be giving my opinion on the first two episodes below. SPOILER warning for those who haven't watch any of these episodes as I will be analysing each episode. A.K.A Ladies Night                                                                           [Courtesy of Marvel/Netflix] So in the first episode Jessica (Krysten Ritter) is a loner, she stays from people as they just cause complications. We get a sense that she has done something, something dark, but we don't quite know what it could be. The day starts with an argument with a client who she throws through her door, she then narrates her typical New York day, and she ends it by spying on Luke Cage (Mike Colter). She wakes up in her apartment to find Malcolm

Thanksgiving

[Courtesy of Fox] So I'm Scottish and we don't get the whole Thanksgiving thing, but I have watched a lot of movies and television which give the rest of the world a nice little insight into this holiday. So you have time off work, you're not taking part in those crazy sales (which have also became a tradition over here, thanks), and you're stuffed from eating your weight in delicious foods. What do you watch? Harry Potter                                                                  [Courtesy of Warner Bros] So I don't know about you but nothing screams November more than our beloved Harry Potter, and there are eight movies for you to binge watch throughout the weekend. I just rewatched these and they hold up, you'll feel the magic, panic and feel relieved as the battle comes to a close. Witness Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), a poor orphan boy who lives in a cu
