What I Missed (9-16th Oct)

What have I missed this week? I've missed quite a bit of movie news and TV shows so this is where all my opinions go for that which I have missed out on. SPOILERS ARE COMING! Fantastic Four Going Back to Marvel? Plenty of websites are commenting on the rumour that Marvel have got the rights back from Fox for the Fantastic Four franchise. I have no idea if this is true or not but the rumour is that as Marvel has been working with Fox on a new X-Men TV show (will go into more detail later in this thread), as Fox had the movie rights to this franchise a deal/swap took place. Den of Geek was the first site to report this rumour, I don't know if I am 100% sold on this, and I'm not sure it would be the best way to go for Marvel. Can Fantastic Four really be done? I don't think so, I say give it a TV show, let's get some more character development, look what it did for Daredevil. But I could be wrong, Marvel could get this franchise, make a movie and turn it into ...

Do we need to know Marvel?

So Marvel I love you, you always do a good job with Superheroes. OK maybe your villains are a bit well meh, sorry but besides Loki who else stands out as a great villain? But everything else has been great. Well mostly everything. Can you do me a little favour though, can you start phase three before you announce phase four?  I understand your announcing new movies for phase three, the addition of Ant-Man and The Wasp is great, even if it does sound like a weird 70's cop show. I'm also on board even if it means three marvel movies a year until 2019, even if it does mean that alongside DC and Sony movies I'm going to be living in my local cinema for the next few years. Even bringing Black Panther and Captain Marvel forward is great, more great superheroes to add to the never ending mix.  But to announce three untitled movies for phase four before we even know what they are, is just too much. Wait until the last year of phase three for new information. Why ar...

What I Missed

I try so much guys, but sometimes things slip between the cracks or that dreaded life I have gets in the way. So sometimes I miss stuff, or would like to talk about certain items but life gets in the way. I live in the UK so most of the new trailers drop when I'm asleep or taking a night away to watch something I'm not blogging about. So here are some quick recaps of what I've missed, what I'm watching, and idea's that I've had which haven't worked out as I've been too busy. GOTHAM I've not watched this at all yet so I can't even comment on it. The reason I haven't watched it is my other half, who got me into watching it in the first place (we've all been there), has decided not to watch this anymore. I know he will eventually want to go back to it as he's a binge watcher and hates waiting week to week for episodes. Blame Netflix. So I'd like to watch it but eventually know in a few weeks I'll have to watch it all o...

The Flash MOVIE!

The Flash is getting a movie... Oh yes, there's been rumblings and cast news but now we have a director. Oh yes the fastest man alive Mr Barry Allen shall be played by someone other than the one you watch on TV and you've nothing against Ezra Miller, who will be taking on the role but damn it DC, you got me excited! OK so it's not a TV show/movie crossover but it is something. Flash deserves his own movie, just as much as Superman and the rest of them. I'm excited to see that movie even if I have to see another origins story. The director is a relevant newcomer Seth Graeme-Smith, who is currently involved in some great projects as a writer (Lego Batman, yes please). So it may be interesting to see a fun take on what a light hearted DC superhero film can be, instead of the usual brooding darkness. I'm sure it's going to be great, and even though it'll be another origins story I'm excited to hear more. I suppose by 2018 we won't mind too much ...

The Forest

So as I was watching this trailer one of my neighbours decided it would be a great idea to use a chainsaw. Freaked me right out! Anyway the trailer looks freaky. It has a twin connection which I'll never understand but it's nice to see in movies. We follow Sara (Natalie Dorma) who's twin has gone missing in Aokigahara Forest. It's rumoured that this place is where people go to commit suicide. Sidebar my research has confirmed this actually happens in real life, resulting in the forest having signs urging those to call suicide prevention hotlines and to think of there families. Sara travels to Japan in order to find her sister, she needs a guide but the locals won't go into the forest. Taylor Kinney's character seems to come to the rescue and gets Sara a guide. She makes her way into the forest, even though she is warned that spirits cannot rest there. They travel with there guide who also warns Sara to stay on the path, she then finds her sisters tent a...

Angry Birds

When I heard about this movie I was like no way. How stupid could this movie be? Not meaning to sound at all passive aggressive but I thought the concept of making a movie about birds flying into pig built structures was dumb. Then I saw the teaser trailer this morning and I laughed, yes LAUGHED! It follows the story of down and out Red (Jason Sudeikis), the female birds pay no attention to him, he's woken up by a kid hitting his ball off his house, yes I've been there and I admit it I wanted to kick the kid into the ocean too. Then we are introduced to Chuck (Josh Gad) and his million yoga type poses including downward duck which gets a yuck reaction from Red. Bomb (Danny McBride) tells Red that when he gets upset he has a tendency to blow up and does so during a surprise party. We are then introduced to Leonard the Pig (Bill Hader) and his comical stairs. Then its back it Red who looks like he's about to blow. Definitely looks good and a much better premise than ...

The Peanuts Movie

Poor Charlie Brown, he's so clumsy and nothing seems to ever go right for him. I love Peanuts, as I suspect do most of the those who grew up wishing they had a dog half as cool as Snoopy. So when I heard there'd be a Peanuts movies coming out I couldn't wait, it has been so long since I've seen these characters on any screen so I'm super excited. In the trailer we see our underdog Charlie Brown talking to his star, a star which will always be there until that is it falls out the sky. A new kid arrives in town and Charlie Brown realises that this is a perfect opportunity to start over, clean slate and all. That is until he slips and causes a fence wipe out. He wants to do something great and stop being seen as the neighbourhood cluts, but will our favorite underdog finally get his chance? I've no idea but I think it's time Charlie Brown got a break. Tune in November 6th to find out and see your favorite characters on the big screen, check out the trail...

The Jungle Book Official Trailer

So the new jungle book trailer launched yesterday and it looks amazing. We hear the familiar Scarlett Johansson in the voice over, giving a chilling yet creepy speech as the snake Kaa. She asks Mowgli (Neel Sethi), "Are you alone out here?" and tells him to, "Trust in me!" I was highly anticipating her breaking out into song, which would have been great. We see our familiar panther Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) first meeting Mowgli, a familiar lion Shere Khan (Idris Elba) and a clip of Mowgli riding on the back of Baloo (Bill Murray). When Kaa is revealed she is huge in comparison to Mowgli, I really like that they changed Kaa to a female as there was a complete lack of female characters in the original. Well besides the singing little girl with the big eyes, and Verna Felton who voiced an Elephant. My childhood was flashing before my eyes as I saw a clip of King Louie (Christopher Walken) and his minion of monkeys, all that was missing was Baloo with a pair of coc...

My favourite modern Disney Movies!

As a remake for Mary Poppins has been announced I decided it was time for me to list my favorite modern Disney movies. I have yet to see Inside Out (I know! You try dragging a 30 year old man to the cinema to see a kids movie, he ain't for budging and I've no kids to use as an excuse!) so I'm sure when I get round to it this list will change a little. Lets focus on the Disney animation movies I have seen, these are my favorite from 2010. Yes Brave is on my list. I know most people hated it but I'm Scottish damn you and she's great with a bow and arrow. Merida is a young girl, faced with an arranged marriage when she doesn't want one. She wants to be her own person, take on her own destiny, and doesn't need a man to save her. All positive's in my book as these types of movies are focused at young girls and why not show young girls they can do whatever they want with there life. Positive messages all around. Yes the bear bit can be a little silly...

Spectre

Now I was going to make this Fall Movies Part 3 but as I had so much to talk about I decided it deserved its own post. So as a Brit James Bond is in our DNA, we all have a favourite (Connory of course) and we love nothing more than to see the worlds most famous spy (sorry Ethan Hunt, side bar how good would a MI Bond cross over be) take on the latest big bad. Now I refused for months to watch Skyfall and after much badgering I eventually gave in, I'm grateful for those who badgered me into it because it is such a great movie. Since seeing Skyfall I have been so pumped for Spectre and the trailer does not disappoint. Bond jokes about taking some overdue holiday while really on a mission of his own in Mexico city, shiny gadgets are shown and Bond wants to disappear. We find out Bond links all of Spectre together, and Christoph Waltz plays the organisations chilling head while Dave Batista looks like its muscle. This looks on par with Skyfall and also very violent. With helic...
