An Open Letter About Ghostbusters

I'd like to start off this post by being honest, I have yet to see Ghostbusters, I have only been doing this since September and I don't have the following to warrant advanced screenings or the money to throw willy nilly at cinema tickets. I do want to see it as soon as I can, and have been pretty positive about it in the past, not because I'm a pseudo feminist, but because I enjoy all Paul Feig movies. Over the past few days of defending the honour of film critics I've been called a feminist, now let me break down that meaning for you, a feminist is someone who wants equal treatment, not someone who wants to be treated above anyone else. If a female lead film stinks we want you to say that it stinks, equality means the right to make terrible movies and be called out on it. I've been told that critics have been paid off by Sony to give positive reviews about their product, I can't speak for every film critic or blogger in the world but I'm sure if...

Ghostbusters Trailer!

It's been over Thirty Years since the original Ghostbusters took to the streets of New York to face the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and it's back with a reboot/remake (I am confused by this but only because this project has been rather secretive). The new shiny trailer dropped today and it will hopefully answer some of my pending questions, or it won't, let us see shall we? If the Ghostbusters weren't already a thing thirty years prior to this movie then why would this graffiti exist? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this and it's actually from later in the movie. We are told that a "New Team will answer the call," and then we get our first scene with the new cast. Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) is m...

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Ghostbusters that's who! I don't know about you but I am pumped for this movie. Woman taking on male driven franchises is a great thing and these four women all have the comedic chops to take on said role's. Now a whole bunch of stuff has been leaking from set and I'm here to take you through them and to give my opinion on them. Enjoy! Bill Murray (Peter Venkman) will be taking on a new role in this movie. He will reportedly be playing Martin Heiss, the main debunker of all things supernatural, think Walter Peck in the original. Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz) is reported to be playing a taxi driver and Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) has also been cast in a unspecified role. But in the most recent of news from the set it has been confirmed by director Paul Feig that Miss Sigourney Weaver herself has also been cast for this movie. I have no idea if she will reprise her role of Dana Barrett or if she will be taking on another role entirely but from the looks of things t...
