What I Missed (9-16th Oct)

What have I missed this week? I've missed quite a bit of movie news and TV shows so this is where all my opinions go for that which I have missed out on. SPOILERS ARE COMING!

Fantastic Four Going Back to Marvel?

Plenty of websites are commenting on the rumour that Marvel have got the rights back from Fox for the Fantastic Four franchise. I have no idea if this is true or not but the rumour is that as Marvel has been working with Fox on a new X-Men TV show (will go into more detail later in this thread), as Fox had the movie rights to this franchise a deal/swap took place.

Den of Geek was the first site to report this rumour, I don't know if I am 100% sold on this, and I'm not sure it would be the best way to go for Marvel. Can Fantastic Four really be done? I don't think so, I say give it a TV show, let's get some more character development, look what it did for Daredevil. But I could be wrong, Marvel could get this franchise, make a movie and turn it into pure gold. I just feel a Fantastic Four movie has never really worked as we don't get to spend enough time on each character. Yes, it could be like Guardians and be a complete hit but there is too much hype (remember I spoke about this yesterday) around this franchise. Everyone loves the Fantastic Four, so lets do them justice, with a TV show.

Heroes

I have still to watch about three episodes (I think) of this franchise. I want to binge watch this show, plain and simple. If I watch it week to week I am just going to have to talk about it, this might be seen as being a good thing but I have so much on at the moment that trying to fit it into my schedule it would be impossible, so what I am going to do is binge watch it before the finale and then give my whole take on the entire series. That good enough for you guys?

In other TV related news I am about to catch up with Gotham and I will be reviewing it on Tuesdays. Yes my other half has given up with it for good. Which is a shame as its a great series but if he doesn't like it then that's ok too. We're all allowed to have our own opinions.

X-Men TV Show

Yes it is official, X-Men is coming to the small screen of both Fox and FX. Fox and Marvel are teaming up to give us not one, but two X-Men based TV shows. First up is Hellfire which is coming to Fox. It follows a special agent in the 1960's who learns that a power hungry woman with abilities is working with a secret society of millionaires who are known as the Hellfire Club. This sounds pretty interesting, I like the 1960's theme as I believe it will tie in with themes previously established in X-Men First Class.

The second show will be called Legion, which follows the story of David Haller (shown above) as he struggles with not only his powers but also with mental illness. He seems to have a form of Dissociative Identity Disorder and his powers change as his different identities appear. In the comics Legion is Professor Xavier's son, but there is no mention of this in the announcement for this show.

Both these shows have also avoided references to X-Men and Mutants, which makes me feel that Marvel wouldn't allow Fox to use these terms to be used as they own the TV right, just as Fox have also not allowed these terms to be used by Marvel. I'm probably wrong, maybe they just forgot to mention them. I'm looking forward to giving these shows a watch.

The Walking Dead

So I watched the Walking Dead on Monday (which is when it airs on Fox in the UK) and I really enjoyed it. I had so many questions during this episode that I forgot to write down (like an idiot), but I found myself pretty hooked from the beginning. I enjoyed that it begun with a situation and then as the episode progressed it filled in the gaps between past and present day. I really enjoyed that the past was in black and white which also made it easy to follow, as if the story was all in colour it may have been hard to follow.

I really enjoy the dynamic between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan (Lennie James), when they are both together they are polar opposites of each other, and they each swap roles every time that they meet up again in the show. Its subtle but I enjoy how it is done. I also really like Carol (Melissa McBride) as she pretends to be just a normal everyday housewife. Yes the herd was slow, but unless they were moved then they would have eventually taken over. Also who the hell was honking the horn? My money's on the Wolves.

Yes the Walking Dead has it's bad parts (season four and the endless walking to Terminus), and if my comic reading chum didn't tell me to stick with it as things will get better I probably would have gave up with it. But now I am rather enjoying it, sometimes you have to stick with the bad to get to the juicy parts. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Inhumans Movie

So this has been all over the shop recently. There's still rumours everywhere that this Movie set for November 2nd 2018, is going to be cancelled. The rumour goes as Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel has stepped down and been replaced by Kevin Feige who does not like the idea of an Inhumans movie that it is to be canned. There is no real proof to this rumour, well proof that I can find anyway, so I say ignore it for now.

Vin Diesel has came out stating he would love to be cast in this movie as Black Bolt, a character which cannot talk due to the terrigen mist giving his abilities to manipulate electrons and if he whispered he could take down a home, and he could easily level a city. I think Vin Diesel would be great casting for this character as his build is perfect and he has a great presence on screen, especially when he is quiet. His voice would still be with Groot though so it wouldn't clash with his other commitments.

I was looking forward to an Inhumans movie as I felt it would tie in with Agents of Shield and give non comic book readers a better look into this franchise, and I am still looking forward to it, unless the rumour mill is true.

Thats it folks, that is the stories I have missed this week which I wanted to talk about. I've missed a few including recent Thor Ragnarok news, but I need more information on this before I can fully comment. What news got you excited this week? Have I missed anything that you'd like me to talk about? Comment below and give me something else to do this weekend, I'm not joking, it'd be nice.

Agents of Shield - Purpose in the Machine

So yeah I just finished watching Agents of Shield episode two. I was going to leave it until tomorrow morning but I found myself wanting to write about it.  I really enjoyed this episode guys and I am going to tell you why. SPOILERS ARE COMING! Now let's talk about Ward (Brett Dalton), I love hydra Ward best. If Grant has an evil purpose he is better for it, he might not have the girl, but he has a team. Ward is going to cleanse Hydra of all its money lovers. He will form Hydra 2.0, only in it for the destruction. Now that's the Ward we can all get behind, he might be the bad guy, but he's our bad guy. So the episode starts in 18th century England inside a creepy mansion with men in powdered wigs and such. They are technically drawing straws but with stones, the white stone goes in the Portal. He will be missed but they throw out a hydra-esque quib about how they have to sacrifice to learn, wait no one actually comes back. Oh no Simmons! We cut back to present day a...

Game of Thrones - Who Else Could Return From The Dead?

Spoilers ahead for episode seven of this sixth season, The Broken Man.  Last week I was so relieved to finally see the Gravedigger Theory  confirmed, us book fans had an idea that we hadn't quite seen the last of that loveable Hound, Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann), and it was nice to see him appear lugging a tree. Now we are faced with wondering who else could potentially rise from the dead before this sixth season is over. Stannis the Mannis Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) was apparently killed by Brienne at the end of last season, but the shot cut away before we saw his head being chopped off. If watching the show or reading the books has taught us anything it is to not believe someone is dead until we actually see it happen with our own two eyes. The Hound was in a similar position, we all thought he would die from bleeding out in the middle of nowhere but he had help in the form of Brother Ray (Ian McShane), who had stumbled upon him and saved him from dea...

Daredevil Season 2 Trailer

SPOILERS, as always for those who haven't watched season one.  So everyone's favorite Blind(ish) Superhero is back in a new trailer. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is feeling guilty, maybe for the death of Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) last season, maybe for something completely different. Father Lantom (Peter McRobbie) tells Matt that guilt can be a good, although Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy (Elden Henson) also look plenty guilty in this teaser trailer. We then see a bunch of clips including Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) in her nurse scrubs, and Elektra (Elodie Yung) getting her mask on, all while hearing a voice over from Father Lantom who indicates that it may be because Matt's work as Daredevil is not yet finished. We then see Karen Page holding a Punisher skull on a x-ray and looking pretty freaked out by it. Then comes what I am most looking forward to, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) is here, in a hospital (watch out Claire) and looking pretty bad ass if I do...
