What Back to the Future Two got right and eh wrong.

We all love the Back to the Future movies right? From its kick ass soundtrack to its loveable, yet relatable characters. I love all the movies, I even love the third movie, don't all harp on at me at once. This movie was out when I was four and it holds a very special place in my heart. So when Marty uses the Delorean to go into the future (to today's actual date in fact 21/10/15), what did the movie get right or wrong?

Fashion

Ok maybe we don't actually have these trainers yet, hurry up Nike, you announced these four years ago! Want to maybe hurry them up a little? I will keep poking at you with a big stick! But we do in fact have trainers which look freakingly similar, that's right, Kanye Wests Yeezy boost trainers made by Adidas, do you think they just stole the idea? They may not light up and we may not have the self lacing technology of a 1989 movie but it's a start. I'm still waiting NIKE!

Does this jacket look eerily familiar? Maybe add a splash of red to that jacket and it looks exactly like the bomber jacket worn by Marty McFly in the future, the present, ok the movie. Many may speculate that due to the movie that we all knew bombers would be back in fashion. I never thought this would be possible. It may not be self drying but we'll get there, I'm sure of it.

So the trainers will be here at some point, the jacket is similar to that shown on the catwalk, does this mean that we now actually have Jeans with the pockets pulled out? No, sorry guys but I suppose we could all do this, just for one day. Remember and empty your pockets first.

Transportation

Nope, there are no flying cars. Sorry 1989, I'm sure someone is trying to make this happen somewhere out there in the world, keep on keepin on! I wouldn't mind having a try in one, could you imagine how much fuel we would have to feed the thing though? Talking about fuel, the one thing which is similar though is our cars are less reliant on oil, we don't use garbage, but we do have hybrids and electric cars now have better technology. Can you imagine a world where we did use garbage? We'd probably still have to pay £1.20 for a litre of the stuff, on a good day.

I'm saying no to hoverboards. In my mind the picture above is a hoverboard, what we have been shown recently are not hoverboards, they really don't look as though they lift off the ground. I could be wrong, I ain't no scientist, but to me hoverboards will not exist in our world until I can clearly see them hovering on there own. Until then I urge all of you big companies to please, please, please put all your best minds on this problem, it will be worth it, eventually.

Movies and Pop Culture

Ok so maybe Jaws 19 was a bit of a stretch, they could have did this with Friday the 13th and they wouldn't have been far off the mark. But was it really wrong? In today's movies we are constantly being shown sequels, prequels and reboots. How many have we had this year alone? I am actually afraid to go and count, ok I did it and at my count it is twenty. There could be more, I just quickly counted and I just realised the list that google gave me did not include the Fantastic Four so, TWENTY-ONE! So Jaws 19 wasn't actually that far off, maybe they do have a time travelling delorean.

Google glasses, that's right. Remember they were launched earlier this year and no one bought them because it probably freaked everyone out. I'm being unfair, I didn't buy them as I am poor, but still they freaked me out. Although the movie didn't really explain what these contraptions did, Docs (pictured above) where a kind of digital binocular and Marty's kids could answer video calls with their glasses and send them to the TV screen. Very on the nose Back to the Future.

Household Appliances

Ok maybe the food rehydrator isn't quite a thing, yet, but we do have voice technology similar to that seen in the movie. Ok maybe we don't have it around the house for the moment but it is beginning to look extremely plausible as we all use the likes of Siri, Cortana and the rest. I'm sure we'll be dishing out commands around the house in no time. We also don't have the Videoshade quite yet, but we do have this technology in our phones and tablets which we put inside our our Christmas jumpers. Seriously check out the video below if you don't believe me.

Marty's son does like to veg out and watch TV all day, remind you of someone? Yes I am guilty of this, I put my hands up. We might not be able to watch six whole channels at once on one screen, I'm not quite sure even I would want that. But our TV's are getting smarter and more integrated. My mums TV has a feature where six screens appear at once while the channel plays in the middle, so I'm sure we will get that technology any day now... no, ok. In the movie there are also fax machines everywhere, though this may not be true today we do have a way of constantly sending messages to others, it's called a smart phone. Think about it.

So the future may not be what our 1989 selves thought it would be, some things are similar (hey at least we have Pepsi Perfect, right?) and we might not have the technology to make cars fly or boards hover. What we can do though is watch this awesome movie and really think, is this future really that different from our present? I don't think it is. But that's just me, a GREAT SCOT(T)! indeed. See what I did there?

So what did you think? Would you have preferred a future of fax machines instead of smart phones? Is the bomber jacket really making a comeback? Will Nike ever make those trainers? Comment below.

Game of Thrones - The Hall of Faces Trailer and Theories!

I've been watching out for this trailer for the past week and was pretty excited to see some footage from the new season. Instead we got to see the faces of characters, some of whom are long lost, and others who have yet to leave us. SPOILER WARNING for those who haven't caught up with season five. The trailer takes place in the Hall of Faces, which is inside the House of Black and White in Braavos. The hall looks great, creepy but great. We can hear some whispers which are too quiet for me to make out. Then Ned's (Sean Bean) face appears on screen, we then hear him say a line from the show's first ever episode called Winter is Coming.    "The Man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." The screen then fades to black and we then see a clip of some more rows of heads. We then hear even more whispers and which I think sounds like some drops of waters. We then hear the voice of Robb Stark (Richard Madden) who we hear give a quote from seaso...

Lion Rampant

So for those of you who haven't heard about this project it was leaked during the Sony hack. This as a potential sequel to Braveheart called Lion Rampant, after the flag I have shown above. Really it should be called Braveheart as Robert the Bruce was called the Brave Heart and his heart was taken into battle after his death. Depicting Robert the Bruce's story and the Battle of Bannockburn (24th June 1314) in Scotlands first war for independance where King Edward II was beaten in battle by a small force lead by Robert the Bruce. Robert the Bruce in Braveheart was shown as a traitor and I am hoping that this upcoming movie would mean that he will hopefully get the makeover he so rightly deserves. Although he did pay homage to Edward I, The Bruce really secretly supported Wallace (later publicly supporting him) and he did not betray Wallace, that was Sir John Menteith. This could easily turn into a what's wrong with Braveheart post so I will state that they did get the...

I dropped the ball!

........ Image courtesy of paradigmalibu These last few months I've felt as if I have dropped the proverbial ball, my mind has been witness to a stand off between Mental health disorders and things from my past I'd rather not constantly have to relive. It's buried itself into my soul while operating my mindless drone of a body, I've relived every conversation I ever had; thought of Friends long gone as I struggle to open up about my disability. I don't even like calling it that as it feels disrespectful to people like my parents; who's struggle and sheer joy of receiving two disabled free babies has been with me my entire life. But I am not OK - I feel like I have to admit that to the world. A miscarriage has taken me back mentally to a place I've not been for a very long time, and I'm petrified t...
