Once Upon A Time Season 5 Episode 3 Review

SPOILERS for those who aren't up to date!

So the episode began with Emma/The Dark One (Jennifer Morrison) stealing an axe from poor Happy, this enrages the Dwarves who go have a chat with David, telling him to be the sheriff and not let the dark one get away with anything. Can I just say Josh Dallas did a superb job this episode, he's been in the background for the first few episodes and it was a refreshing change to see David go on two adventures.

So back in Camelot Emma asks if she should just do magic and get Merlin out his tree but again everyone tells her no, that it's too unsafe (wasn't unsafe when Robin was dying last episode though). I almost feel bad for Emma. When Arthur (Liam Garrigan) appears in the room Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) has an epiphany and states that the easiest way to figure out how to free Merlin would be to ask him himself. Regina (Lana Parrilla) then finds the Crimson Crown in one of Merlin's old spell books, this is the item they will need to talk to Merlin. David and Arthur are on a quest to find this mushroom and bring back Merlin.

Back in Storybrooke Regina then finds her handwritten question mark in one of the books brought back from Camelot, she wonders what it was doing there and realises this must have happened during the six weeks that are missing from their memories. David then vents to Mary Margaret about how hopeless he feels about Emma being the Dark One, he just wants to fix it and have his daughter back. Then Arthur appears to report his reliquary filled with magical items missing. David is on the case and the story mirrors that in Camelot.

Emma/Dark One is attempting to remove Excalibur from its stone with the dwarf axe she just stole. Rumple (Robert Carlyle) tells her it's useless, and it is. He knows what she has to do to get that sword out of the stone, they need a hero, and Rumple knows just the one. Back in Camelot, Regina and Zelena (Rebecca Mader) are discussing what happened before in Storybrooke and Zelena's future child. Regina is pretty evil in this scene, all Zelena wants is someone to love her and it is her baby (even if she did go about it the wrong way). But Regina is very hard on her and takes away her voice again.

Arthur and David have a bro moment with some swords and David notices the round table. He notices Percivals missing chair, and apologises for his death, again. During this conversation Arthur points out one chair, a chair more splendid than the others. David presumes this chair is for the King, but Arthur states that the chair will always remain empty, as it is the Siege Perilous, the chair meant for a knight with a pure heart. During this scene Arthur finds out Lancelot is dead and we see that the reliquary is indeed filled with magical objects, they will take some of them on the quest for the Crimson Crown.

Back in Storybrooke we again see this reliquary and it is basically empty. Who could have stolen such things? Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) visits Granny's and runs into Robin (Sean Maguire), they have a weird conversation about Zelena's baby box and see a nice wee sonogram of the baby. Hook tells Robin that Emma has a secret door in her new pad, and he wants to know whats behind it. Just then Granny (Beverley Elliott) hands Hook an order, Emma adds a note telling him to meet her on his ship. On the Jolly Roger, Emma appears behind Hook, which freaks him out and apologises for her behaviour in the last episode. She turns back into her non dark self and suggests they just do what they used to, have lunch and a chat.

Back in Camelot both David and Arthur are on there quest to find the mushroom in the Forest of the Eternal Darkness (sounds scary). They discover they have similar backgrounds and David states that Arthur treats his squire poorly, they also have a my wife is better than your wife contest. They come to a small wooden bridge which floats on the water, David sees the mushroom and states that as the bridge will not hold both of them then he will go and retrieve the mushroom. But as the camera pans across the lake we see an arm, what could this be?

Back in Storybrooke David and Arthur visit Gold's shop, they ask Belle (Emilie de Ravin) how she is doing and she states that she needs an object Rumple touched before he became the dark one in order to bring him back to her. David then gets an idea from an Oktoberfest cup and goes off to speak to the people of Camelot. Calling this fake cup the "Chalice of Vengeance," David is able to uncover that Arthur's squire, Griff has stolen the artifacts and then we have a weird clash with a car, a bit of wood and a horse.

Back in the Forest of Eternal Darkness, David retrieves the mushroom, on his way back though some empty suits of armour rise up and start to fight with him. He puts up a fight but they almost kill David by pulling him underwater but Arthur eventually saves him after the longest will he, won't he part of this episode. Damn Arthur.

Back on the Jolly Roger Hook has a lot of questions for Emma. He asks her what is behind the locked door in her house. Emma wants Hook to trust in her, know that there is a point to all of this and although the dark one has changed her it is indeed for the better just like Rumple, as she isn't afraid anymore. Hook reminds her that he was the villain in Rumple's story, taunting him with his sword. Hook is getting fed up of her games, knowing the dark one like the back of his hook (see what I did there) he realises that she wants something. She tries to deflect his attention by asking him if he loves her, after a pause we find out he loved her. Ah here and I thought true love beats all.

Back in the Forest of Eternal Darkness David realises he doesn't have the mushroom and is defeated. Arthur reminds him that the quest can be successful or fail, the point in it all is the actual quest. We all have victories and loses and the losses make us the heroes. Arthur then offers David a seat at his round table. Back in Storybrooke David asks Griff (Arthur's Squire) why he stole the items. He tells David that he was fed up breaking his back for Arthur and Camelot. Then David finds the Crimson Crown, he finds something familiar about this mushroom and goes straight off to find Regina and Mary Margaret. Could this save Emma?

Back in Camelot David is being dubbed Sir David of the Enchanted Forest, Knight of the Round Table. He then is offered the Siege Perilous, the seat which is reserved for the knight with the purest heart. Then little baby Neal starts crying so Mary Margaret takes him outside, who should appear but Lancelot (Sinqua Walls). We all thought he was dead including Snow. He tells her he came here to warn her, she must not trust Arthur, Camelot is not what it seems. We then find out that it was Arthur who stole the mushroom from David, why? Will Davids liking for Arthur cause a rift between him and Mary Margaret?

Back in Storybrooke we find out that Arthur's Squire Griff was actually doing what he was told. Arthur tells him that they cannot trust those in Storybrooke as they harbor the dark one. He also tells them that they cannot get home, but will rebuild Camelot, right here in Storybrooke, then slipping Griff some poison. Hook then goes back to visit Robin in Granny's, asking him to break into Emma's locked door. Then Belle lets out a screech, the rose, all the petals have returned. She runs to the shop only to find Rumple gone. Turns out Emma found something Rumple had once touched before becoming the dark one, Hooks sword. Rumple has a clean slate and Emma is going to teach him to become a hero, all so he can pull the sword from the stone.

Well that was a weird episode again with many twists and turns. I do like that it focused on David as I said we haven't seen very much from him this season. I'm excited for what is to come after hearing at comic con that Ruby is returning to the show (now that mad men is finished) as well as Mulan and Merida. I'm excited for where this season will go. Also Arthur is giving me the proper creeps.

Game of Thrones - The Hall of Faces Trailer and Theories!

I've been watching out for this trailer for the past week and was pretty excited to see some footage from the new season. Instead we got to see the faces of characters, some of whom are long lost, and others who have yet to leave us. SPOILER WARNING for those who haven't caught up with season five. The trailer takes place in the Hall of Faces, which is inside the House of Black and White in Braavos. The hall looks great, creepy but great. We can hear some whispers which are too quiet for me to make out. Then Ned's (Sean Bean) face appears on screen, we then hear him say a line from the show's first ever episode called Winter is Coming.    "The Man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." The screen then fades to black and we then see a clip of some more rows of heads. We then hear even more whispers and which I think sounds like some drops of waters. We then hear the voice of Robb Stark (Richard Madden) who we hear give a quote from seaso

Mental Illness in TV and Film - Dementors

Image Source Dementors have haunted me ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban way back in 1999. I was a Pre-Teen who was pretty much unaware of the depression that was just around the corner, in a way this book prepared me for what was to come, and after multiple reads, it became my go-to reference when explaining my depression. First off let's give a brief outline of Dementors, these magical wraith-like creatures can generally be found guarding Azkaban Prison, sucking the happiness, hope, and peace out of everyone around them. If you have had a horrible life marked by loss and abuse (just like Harry) you are much more affected by them than someone who has not, as they also cause depression and despair in there victims. They can sense and taste fear, but thankfully they can't seem to tell people of the same build from each other, and they are able to communicate wit

Mockingjay Part 2 Teaser

So in a similar vein to Sony releasing a Bond teaser to get our juices flowing for release, Lionsgate release their own Mockingjay Part Two clip. SPOILERS AND THEORIES ARE COMING! I haven't read the books but I have a few theories after watching this clip. I may be 100% wrong though, no guarantees. So in the trailer our Mockingjay Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), is greeted by our newlywed Finnick (Sam Claflin). She comments at how short his honeymoon was and he replies stating that he'll,"be having one in the capital, after they take it." Well if this doesn't scream I'm going to die in this fight then I do not know what does. We are then greeted by Boggs (Mahershala Ali), he is commanding the non combat unit, they will be days behind the first unit and that Lt Jackson (Michelle Forbes) is his second in command. Cressida (Natalie Dorma) tells us the team are going to be the Star Squad and that Katniss is at her most effective when she is seen by the masses.
