The Six Best Christmas Specials Ever!

I love Christmas specials, they are little short Christmas Movies which means we can cram in much more of them at a time. They are perfect for binge watching all day long, so what should you be watching on this Christmas Eve? Well have a look at the following.

6. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

My favourite Christmas Episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine has got to be the season one special titled Christmas. What does this episode not have? Jake (Andy Samberg) and Boyle (Jo Lo Trunnion) get beat up by two Santa's, Jake is in charge of Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) after the Captain received some death threats, Terry (Terry Crews) has a psych evaluation and Amy (Melissa Funeral) enlists the help of Gina (Chelsea Peretti) to make Holt a Christmas card.

Definitely worth a watch and I laughed all the way through it. I have heard good things about the latest Christmas Episode but as I am in the UK I haven't seen it yet. Would recommend a double feature.

5. The Vicar of Dibley

I think this little show is very underrated and my favourite Christmas episode titled Christmas Lunch. The premises of the episode is the Vicar, Geraldine Granger (Dawn French) is invited round to Christmas dinner by basically half the village and is too polite to say no to anyone.

It has some great spirit, great laughs and even a cameo by our latest Doctor. Definitely one to watch after a days worth of stuffing, snacks and ice cream.

4. Blackadder

Blackadders Christmas Carol is a great twist on the classic Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. To begin with we see a very nice Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) who treats his man servant Baldrick (Tony Robinson) very well until the ghost of Christmas Past mistakenly haunts Blackadder with visions of his ancestors and a glimpse into the future.

This special holds a special place in my heart, I have seen it every Christmas season since I was a teenager, and has me laughing even now.

3. The Big Bang Theory

My favourite Christmas episode of the Big Bang Theory has got to be the season one special called The Bath Gift Item Hypothesis. Leonard (Johnny Galecki) is annoyed about Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and her relationship with an attractive physicist at the university. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is annoyed about having to buy Penny a Christmas present and enlists the help of Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg).

It is very funny, and heartfelt which is great for this time of the year. But it wins out on the other two Christmas Specials for Sheldon's reaction to Penny's present.

2. Friends

My favourite Christmas Episode of Friends has got to be, The One Where Rachel Quits. Ross (David Schwimmer) accidentally breaks a little girls leg, he tries to help her sell cookies and enlists Joey (Matt Le Blanc) and Chandler (Matthew Perry). Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) goes to pick up the Christmas tree for Monicas (Courteney Cox) apartment and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) Quits her job at Central Perk.

This one has the heartwarming factor which is why I love it more than the others. It's funny, it's fastpaced and it's just perfect for binge watching.

1. The West Wing

This was a hard decision, the West Wing has great Christmas Episodes, so I had to rewatch them all and it was close, but Noel wins this battle. It is slightly better than the first Christmas Episode and it's all because it follows the same formula but Josh's (Bradley Whitford) journey had you on the edge of your seat. CJ (Allison Janney) and Bernards (Paxton Whitehead) have a great dynamic with each other, Toby (Richard Shiff) is trying to appear more festive to people by organising live music to play for thirteen days in the white house and Donna (Janel Moloney) is obsessed with seeing Yo-yo Ma at the congressional Christmas party.

This episode is hard to get through, Josh seems very angry and annoyed at the beginning but by the end you'll be crying buckets. It's heartwarming and centred around moving on and healing. Leo (John Spencer) has the best speech at the end of the episode and it wants to make you move forward into Christmas.

We'd like to take a moment to wish you all Happy Holidays. I hope you have a great day tomorrow no matter what your doing. So from me and the cat (who's more interested in his presents) have fun!

Mental Illness in TV and Film - Dementors

Image Source Dementors have haunted me ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban way back in 1999. I was a Pre-Teen who was pretty much unaware of the depression that was just around the corner, in a way this book prepared me for what was to come, and after multiple reads, it became my go-to reference when explaining my depression. First off let's give a brief outline of Dementors, these magical wraith-like creatures can generally be found guarding Azkaban Prison, sucking the happiness, hope, and peace out of everyone around them. If you have had a horrible life marked by loss and abuse (just like Harry) you are much more affected by them than someone who has not, as they also cause depression and despair in there victims. They can sense and taste fear, but thankfully they can't seem to tell people of the same build from each other, and they are able to communicate wit

Jessica Jones Episodes 1-2

[Courtesy of Marvel/Netflix] Jessica Jones launched this Friday and after a weekend of mostly binge watching I decided it was time to talk about it. I really enjoyed this show and will be giving my opinion on the first two episodes below. SPOILER warning for those who haven't watch any of these episodes as I will be analysing each episode. A.K.A Ladies Night                                                                           [Courtesy of Marvel/Netflix] So in the first episode Jessica (Krysten Ritter) is a loner, she stays from people as they just cause complications. We get a sense that she has done something, something dark, but we don't quite know what it could be. The day starts with an argument with a client who she throws through her door, she then narrates her typical New York day, and she ends it by spying on Luke Cage (Mike Colter). She wakes up in her apartment to find Malcolm

Thanksgiving

[Courtesy of Fox] So I'm Scottish and we don't get the whole Thanksgiving thing, but I have watched a lot of movies and television which give the rest of the world a nice little insight into this holiday. So you have time off work, you're not taking part in those crazy sales (which have also became a tradition over here, thanks), and you're stuffed from eating your weight in delicious foods. What do you watch? Harry Potter                                                                  [Courtesy of Warner Bros] So I don't know about you but nothing screams November more than our beloved Harry Potter, and there are eight movies for you to binge watch throughout the weekend. I just rewatched these and they hold up, you'll feel the magic, panic and feel relieved as the battle comes to a close. Witness Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), a poor orphan boy who lives in a cu
