Ghostbusters Trailer!

It's been over Thirty Years since the original Ghostbusters took to the streets of New York to face the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and it's back with a reboot/remake (I am confused by this but only because this project has been rather secretive). The new shiny trailer dropped today and it will hopefully answer some of my pending questions, or it won't, let us see shall we?

The trailer begun with some shots of New York City and it reminds us that 30 years ago, four scientists saved New York. We then see a shot of the Firehouse from the first two movies, and some Ghostbusters graffiti in a subway tunnel. If the Ghostbusters weren't already a thing thirty years prior to this movie then why would this graffiti exist? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this and it's actually from later in the movie.

We are told that a "New Team will answer the call," and then we get our first scene with the new cast. Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) is munching on a can of pringles, Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) is filming and Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) is standing pretty frozen, we then see why. A pretty funky looking Ghost has appeared in the Library, they think she looks peaceful, well until she violently spews green goo (ectoplasm) all over Gilbert.

It then jumps to Gilbert explaining to both Yates and Holtzmann just where all that goo stuff ended up and it doesn't sound pretty. We then hear an updated version of the Ghostbusters theme which doesn't really bother me that much. These characters are just like the originals, they spent there whole lives studying the paranormal and the paranormal are now everywhere.

Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) finds these ghosts in the subway tunnels and we see some New Yorkers fleeing from something. We see a clip of a new slender Proton Pack, and we then find out the roles each of these characters play. Holtzmann is the engineer, and makes some seriously crazy traps. Gilbert is better at Quantum Physics than anyone else and we don't find out Yates role as of yet.

Patty Tolan appears to be at headquarters while they are making this plan (possibly to tell them about the ghosts she encountered in the subway tunnels. Patty tells them that they are smart, but she knows New York and she can get a car. The car like the original is a Herse as well as a Cadillac.

We are them treated to some clips of Ecto-1 and the team appear with their uniforms and their Proton Packs. We are then given some back and forth by Gilbert and Yates who both say lets go, again tricking us into not knowing who is really the face of this team. More Ghostbusters theme plays as we see Ecto-1 responding to a call.

We then see the team heading into some freaky green stuff, speaking of freaky green stuff Slimer makes an appearance in this trailer, I wonder what antics my little green friend shall be up to this time. Time square is crawling with Ghosts, as Gilbert's voiceover tells us that someone is using a device to amplify paranormal activity and they might be the only ones who can stop it.

We then see Gilbert who looks terrified as she seems to be looking for a ghost in a mannequin factory. Holtzmann scares her by standing between the heads in a purple wig and a frilly hat (I think the wig looks great, but the hat is indeed too much). We again see more ghosts in time square but this time one of them is huge, what's going on with the stripy trousers? The team then ready their weapons, Holtzmann actually licks hers, and they start firing blasts of positively charged ions and then thankfully we see that these proton packs actually have stream crossing capabilities.

Then we see our first clip of Kevin (Chris Hemsworth) as he kicks open a door in a Ghostbusters suit (this might mean he will be on the team). We then hear from Yates that these Ghosts can possess the human form and then one possess Yates. She then attacks Holtzmann, as Tolan tries to help her Yates does a head turn worthy of the exorcist, Tolan then slaps the ghost right out of her.

My Views on the Trailer

I liked the fact that it did not show us the original line up in this trailer. We all know Dr. Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dr. Stanz (Dan Aykroyd) or the actors playing them will be appearing in this movie, but it's nice that there appearance wasn't ruined by this trailer. I'm somewhat skeptical that it might be too much like the original but the story does seem a bit different so I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. I like the chemistry between these four characters and this trailer did make me laugh.

What do you think? Excited by the trailer, hopeful or did you not like it? Please comment below. As always if you liked this review then please feel free to click on more of my reviews below.

Game of Thrones - The Hall of Faces Trailer and Theories!

I've been watching out for this trailer for the past week and was pretty excited to see some footage from the new season. Instead we got to see the faces of characters, some of whom are long lost, and others who have yet to leave us. SPOILER WARNING for those who haven't caught up with season five. The trailer takes place in the Hall of Faces, which is inside the House of Black and White in Braavos. The hall looks great, creepy but great. We can hear some whispers which are too quiet for me to make out. Then Ned's (Sean Bean) face appears on screen, we then hear him say a line from the show's first ever episode called Winter is Coming.    "The Man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." The screen then fades to black and we then see a clip of some more rows of heads. We then hear even more whispers and which I think sounds like some drops of waters. We then hear the voice of Robb Stark (Richard Madden) who we hear give a quote from seaso...

Mental Illness in TV and Film - Dementors

Image Source Dementors have haunted me ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban way back in 1999. I was a Pre-Teen who was pretty much unaware of the depression that was just around the corner, in a way this book prepared me for what was to come, and after multiple reads, it became my go-to reference when explaining my depression. First off let's give a brief outline of Dementors, these magical wraith-like creatures can generally be found guarding Azkaban Prison, sucking the happiness, hope, and peace out of everyone around them. If you have had a horrible life marked by loss and abuse (just like Harry) you are much more affecte...

My week off!

[Quickmeme] Hello everybody. I took an inpromptu week off this week. Was only meant to be for Thanksgiving weekend but on Sunday I started to get a bad flu. Still not quite right at the moment. Chicken noodle soup would be great at the moment.                                   [USA Network] So what have I been watching on my week off? Besides the shows I usually write for this week I started watching Mr. robot, and I have to say it is pretty great. Think Fight Club meets The Social Network, very much shot like a David Fincher movie. It's gritty and had me hooked pretty quickly. Definitely a must see for those who haven't watched it already. [Paramount Pictures] So I decided it was time to watch some Christmas Movies and I popped this on. I thought it would be great and I'd be instantly transported back to my childhood. It wa...
