Game of Thrones - Home

Firstly I would like to apologise for not posting this last week, it was snowing here at the start of May and just as the sun started to shine again I got the flu. We could blame the weather all day long but it's my own fault for not checking the weather reports and being out during a blizzard. But I decided to write this anyway as it was halfway done (If this wasn't so detailed it would have been done by now) and it will be a nice refresher to you all who have yet to see last nights episode. Moving on from that, I loved this episode so much I watched it twice, but if you haven't watched it yet then be warned SPOILERS ARE COMING! Ok now you've been warned so venture on at your own peril! Under the Weirwood We start off this episode with a look at what Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) has been up too since we last saw way back in Season Four. Under the Weirwood is as dark and creepy as I remember but Bloodraven (Max Von Sydow) has had a haircut and a shave ...

Game of Thrones - The Red Woman

The night is dark and full of  SPOILERS,  so if you haven't seen this episode then I suggest you go watch it now and come back to read my recap and opinions when your all caught up. Last nights Game of Thrones was just a whole bunch of setup and revisiting storylines, that's not to say that I didn't enjoy it, but I was left with more questions than answers. Maybe it's because I was hoping for some Melisandre (Carice van Houten) backstory, or a certain resurrection, so my expectations where just way too high. Instead of jumping all over Westeros and Essos I will be recapping by concentrating on each individual location. Castle Black Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is really dead, but we knew that already, the opening shot is straight from the trailer, sweeping over the wall into Castle Black to show Jon lying in a pool of his own blood. Ghost is locked away and can be heard howling (I won't complain, the TV show is different than the books), Davos (Liam Cunni...

Ear Stuff

So I've been gone a lot recently and I thought I would clear some things up. I had a bad case of Labyrinthitis in December and the ear stuff has just gone downhill since then. I write when I don't feel dizzy or sick which means I maybe get two posts out a week. But since I started taking these new tablets two weeks ago I'm feeling dizzy pretty much all of the time. I have an outpatient appointment this afternoon, so hopefully I should start to feel much better by the weekend or the start of the week. But I thought I'd let you know why I have been absent of late, and reassure you that I will be back and I will hopefully be back to writing daily. Thanks, Em

Rogue One, Doctor Strange and more in This Weeks Movie News

We have had a lot of news this week when it comes to the wonderful world of movies, but instead of writing a piece which is so long and detailed that the average film fan might skip half of, I decided to give my highlights or possible lowlights of the week depending how enraged I am feeling at that particular moment. Doctor Strange Rumors are swirling that the Doctor Strange trailer will be released this Tuesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live but this week we've also had some pictures and videos taken from the set which have peaked my interest ever so slightly. In the video we see Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) lying behind a black car, they then stand up, turn, run and jump. Photo's were also released of Mads Mikkelsen's villain, I have no idea who this character is but the eye make up looks amazing.  Moviepilot  can tell you much more than I can about this character's possible origins, and if you click that link you can a...

Rogue One Trailer

It feels as if I have been hearing about the prospect of this trailer for months now, as every few days my partner asks me about it, but it's finally here so I can stop hearing him asking about it. As a Star Wars outsider I did really enjoy this trailer, I know the fan base reaction looks pretty divided (if I have to hear the words Mary Sue again I may just lose it) but I am actually interested in watching this story. Trailer Breakdown The trailer starts with an introduction to our main protagonist, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). Jyn is being taken into the rebel base wearing handcuffs, we also hear a voiceover which at first sounds like she is at a disciplinarian hearing, the voice sounds similar to Alistair Petrie so I presume that the incidents he is listing have actually interested the Rebellion in recruiting her. Jyn is then taken in front of Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), we find out that Jyn has been on her own from the age of fifteen, and we also find out a few o...

Batman V Superman Review

I have sat and thought about this movie since seeing it on Saturday, I've slept it on, I've tried researching more into it, but nothing I do seems to make me feel better about this movie. I went into this movie a DC fan, frustrated that the only good movies to come out of this studio in the past ten years are movies about Batman. Before the hate descends upon me, I'd like to make it clear that I love Batman, everything from his great gadgets to his awesome detective skills, my frustration has been from the lack of other great DC heroes on the big screen. I'm sure some of you out there think Man of Steel is a great movie, but I can't bring myself to love a darker Superman, maybe it's because I think Superman should represent the best of us all, but that's another argument for another day.  Before going into see the movie I accepted that Superman was going to be dark, Batman was going to be killing a bunch of people, and Wonder Woman was going to j...

This Week's Trailers

This week has been filled with a lot of big trailers, X-Men: Apocalypse had it's second trailer, we had our first look at Sausage Party (do not type that into google kids, you have no idea what I had to look through), and we also had a first look at Ben-Hur. Below I will give a quick recap of the trailer as well as my thought's on each one. Storks Storks is an upcoming animated movie which follows a young boy on his quest for a brother, his parents don't seem too keen on the idea so he writes a letter to the Storks asking for a baby brother. There is a problem though, the storks are moving away from the baby delivery service to a package delivery one. When this delivery appears a stork named Junior (Andy Samberg) must drop everything and deliver that baby. Kelsey Grammer and Keegan-Michael Key have also been confirmed to voice roles in this movie. My thoughts on this trailer are mostly that it looks like something you can take the kids too, although be warned, ...
