Rogue One Trailer

It feels as if I have been hearing about the prospect of this trailer for months now, as every few days my partner asks me about it, but it's finally here so I can stop hearing him asking about it. As a Star Wars outsider I did really enjoy this trailer, I know the fan base reaction looks pretty divided (if I have to hear the words Mary Sue again I may just lose it) but I am actually interested in watching this story.

Trailer Breakdown

The trailer starts with an introduction to our main protagonist, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). Jyn is being taken into the rebel base wearing handcuffs, we also hear a voiceover which at first sounds like she is at a disciplinarian hearing, the voice sounds similar to Alistair Petrie so I presume that the incidents he is listing have actually interested the Rebellion in recruiting her. Jyn is then taken in front of Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), we find out that Jyn has been on her own from the age of fifteen, and we also find out a few of her character traits. This scene feels to me like it is the start of a great action movie, we then see Diego Luna's character who is in the same control room.

We then see Jyn in a city taking on a group of stormtroopers, and she also saves a character from another group of them who are blown up. During these scenes we hear Jyn say, "It's a rebellion isn't it?" The trailer then jumps back to the Rebel Base where Jyn answers a pretty pleased looking Mon Mothma with, "I rebel."

We then see a shot of Jyn looking out of a window (possibly from an aircraft), as we hear Mon Mothma give Jyn her mission details. We then see a Star Destroyer which is dwarfed by the Death Star, as far as we are lead to believe the Rebels only know that a major weapons test is about to be carried out. The Rebels want to send Jyn to gather information on this weapon, the character played by Alistair Petrie then asks Jyn, "Is that clear?" to which she replies, "Yes, sir"

We then hear the Imperial's emergency siren, we see Jyn, Diego Luna's character and a group of Rebel Pilots getting ready for take off. We see an Imperial Grand Admiral character which could possibly be Grand Admiral Thrawn, although the character isn't a Chiss so it could potentially be another character. We see more shots of Stormtroopers which look like they are in the same city as before, this could be just before Jyn attacked.

Forest Whitaker's character seems to be walking (with a limp) through a sewer, we then see a clip of a group of Shadow Stormtroopers as a fire rages in the background. We then hear Forest Whitaker's character saying, "What will you do when they catch you, what will you do if they break you?" We then see some shots of rebel pilots which have been captured by a group of Stormtroopers, Jyn and her team running from a whole bunch of Stormtroopers and Donnie Yen's character fighting a bunch of Stormtroopers with a Samurai Sword.

A shot of some more Shadow Stormtroopers shooting, an Imperial shuttle being blown up, and the Grand Admiral from before walking towards a beach littered with Stormtrooper corpses. Now the next shot is one I am pretty confused by, it is a black hooded character kneeling in front of a what looks like a Bacta Tank, now I understand the Emperor's Royal Guard is present which means that the Emperor is somewhere in that room but I have no idea who the black cloaked figure is. My partner keeps telling me he can see Vader's helmet at the top but I am not convinced.

Forest Whitaker's character is on a ship and he says, "If you continue to fight, what will you become?" We then see a character running out of an imperial base as a small explosion appears behind him. The Rebels are own a beach (which looks like the same beach which was covered in Stormtrooper corpses) being shot at by some AT-AT's, and finally we see a shot of Jyn in a TIE pilots uniform.

My Thoughts

I did really enjoy it, it feels like more of a war/spy style movie to me so I think I will really enjoy it. I like the look of the movie, it really does feel like it is set in the same time period as A New Hope. I am always for a strong female protagonist in these movie and Disney/Lucasfilm have made me very happy by doing this again. I am interested to see the return of Darth Vader, Forest Whitaker's character is really engaging and looks like he may have an interesting role to play in Rogue One. I am interested to see more of the extended universe and finally see the story behind the stolen Death Star plans.

Game of Thrones - The Hall of Faces Trailer and Theories!

I've been watching out for this trailer for the past week and was pretty excited to see some footage from the new season. Instead we got to see the faces of characters, some of whom are long lost, and others who have yet to leave us. SPOILER WARNING for those who haven't caught up with season five. The trailer takes place in the Hall of Faces, which is inside the House of Black and White in Braavos. The hall looks great, creepy but great. We can hear some whispers which are too quiet for me to make out. Then Ned's (Sean Bean) face appears on screen, we then hear him say a line from the show's first ever episode called Winter is Coming.    "The Man who passes the sentence should swing the sword." The screen then fades to black and we then see a clip of some more rows of heads. We then hear even more whispers and which I think sounds like some drops of waters. We then hear the voice of Robb Stark (Richard Madden) who we hear give a quote from seaso...

Mental Illness in TV and Film - Dementors

Image Source Dementors have haunted me ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban way back in 1999. I was a Pre-Teen who was pretty much unaware of the depression that was just around the corner, in a way this book prepared me for what was to come, and after multiple reads, it became my go-to reference when explaining my depression. First off let's give a brief outline of Dementors, these magical wraith-like creatures can generally be found guarding Azkaban Prison, sucking the happiness, hope, and peace out of everyone around them. If you have had a horrible life marked by loss and abuse (just like Harry) you are much more affecte...

My week off!

[Quickmeme] Hello everybody. I took an inpromptu week off this week. Was only meant to be for Thanksgiving weekend but on Sunday I started to get a bad flu. Still not quite right at the moment. Chicken noodle soup would be great at the moment.                                   [USA Network] So what have I been watching on my week off? Besides the shows I usually write for this week I started watching Mr. robot, and I have to say it is pretty great. Think Fight Club meets The Social Network, very much shot like a David Fincher movie. It's gritty and had me hooked pretty quickly. Definitely a must see for those who haven't watched it already. [Paramount Pictures] So I decided it was time to watch some Christmas Movies and I popped this on. I thought it would be great and I'd be instantly transported back to my childhood. It wa...
