We have had a lot of news this week when it comes to the wonderful world of movies, but instead of writing a piece which is so long and detailed that the average film fan might skip half of, I decided to give my highlights or possible lowlights of the week depending how enraged I am feeling at that particular moment.
Doctor Strange
Rumors are swirling that the Doctor Strange trailer will be released this Tuesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live but this week we've also had some pictures and videos taken from the set which have peaked my interest ever so slightly. In the video we see Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) lying behind a black car, they then stand up, turn, run and jump. Photo's were also released of Mads Mikkelsen's villain, I have no idea who this character is but the eye make up looks amazing. Moviepilot can tell you much more than I can about this character's possible origins, and if you click that link you can also see the on set photos.
Growing up the only comic books you could get in my town where based on Newspaper comic strips so I really do not know that much about this character, but from the little I have seen it looks pretty weird but it could be a refreshing change. I think the cast looks amazing, and I am really looking forward to seeing the trailer on Tuesday. You can see the video taken from set below.
Deadpool 2
According to Heroic Hollywood Ryan Reynolds has signed to reprise his role as the Merc with a Mouth and filming could starts as early as the fall with the released scheduled for 2018. I don't think I laughed as much in the cinema as I did when I went to see Deadpool, now some of you may think that's childish but if the second Deadpool movie is anything like the first then I will be a very happy chappy.
Wonder Woman
New Wonder Woman Set Photos were released this week, they were shot in a beach in Italy and show the Amazon Warriors and soldiers attacking an unknown threat. The costumes used in these photos are the same as the photo above which was released by Warner Bros late last month. The Amazonia costumes look amazing and all these women look like they are warriors, at one point it even looks as though the soldiers are shooting at the warriors as they charge on horses towards them.
Gal Gadot also spoke with Digital Spy to say that the movie does have moments of humour but also has a pretty dark tone, which doesn't really bother me too much. I didn't mind the tone in Batman V Superman, I got over it eventually with Man of Steel, so as long as the story is good and we get some great action I will be on board for whatever tone Wonder Woman wants to throw at me.
Uncharted/The Last of Us
For anyone who follows me on Instagram you may have seen me rant about constantly crashing the stupid Jet Ski in the first Uncharted game, but grumbles aside I do really enjoy both of these gaming franchises and was interested when I heard that Sony/Naughty Dog were not only making an Uncharted movie but were also in talks for a Last of Us movie as well.
IGN recently sat down with game director Neil Druckmann to talk about the upcoming Uncharted and The Last of Us movies. According to Neil, Naughty Dog has only been a little bit involved in the Uncharted movie process as Sony are bringing them scripts and ideas but they haven't heard anything about it in some time. Neil also brings more bad news as we find out that The Last of Us movie hasn't had any work done on it for about a year and a half. So it looks like they're may or may not possibly be a movie based on either one of these games that may or may not be released in the near future. I am indeed a sad Panda.
Rogue One
The Rogue One Trailer launched on Thursday this week on Good Morning America, I already did my trailer breakdown which you can read by clicking this link, you may possibly laugh at my lack of Star Wars knowledge (I am getting better though thanks to my years of playing the video games). I've taken a few more days to digest the trailer, I have heard some rumours that you can hear Vader breathing even though I've rewatched it and I couldn't hear anything.
I've watched the trailer a few more times and I have to admit that at first I wasn't too bothered about seeing this movie (I was more interested in seeing an Obi Wan or Boba Fett standalone movie) but this trailer has definitely won me over to the point where I will definitely be in the cinema on opening night.
X-Men Apocalypse
This week we have had a flood of posters for the X-Men Apocalypse movie, it all started with the four horseman posters being released on the 4th of April. As we all know the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse are War, which looks like it will be played by Storm (Alexandra Shipp) as in the poster there is a crowd of men cheering around her. Famine looks like it will be played by Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as he is surrounded by skeletons. Death will be played by Archangel (Ben Hardy) as he is on top of a pile of bones although he could possibly be playing famine, I just thought his poster looked more Death like. Pestilence who is presumably Psylocke (Olivia Munn) as she is surrounded by dead rats.
Then on Thursday I completely missed all ten posters (mostly because of that trailer) which included three of the Four Horsemen as well as Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Jean Gray (Sophie Turner), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Professor X (James McAvoy). Then yesterday 20th Century Fox released two more posters featuring my favorite of the bunch, Apocalypse (Oscar Issac) and the last of the Horsemen, Archangel. I do really like all of these posters which you can all view for yourselves over at Superhero Hype.
John Wick 2
Collider sat down with Keanu Reeves to speak about his upcoming horror movie Knock Knock but he also revealed some details about John Wick 2. Keanu revealed that filming for the anticipated sequel with hopefully be starting this October, he also said some interesting things about it which make me think that a lot of work has gone into the script to make sure it isn't a let down like most Hollywood sequels.
Now I don't know about you but I absolutely loved John Wick, it was my kind of action flick (violence, gore, revenge), so the closer we are to a sequel the happier I will be. Hopefully it stays on track and doesn't go down any development holes, get those fingers crossed.
Spider-man Reboot
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sat down with EW on Friday to speak about Spider-Man's larger role in the Marvel Universe. Speaking about the plans for the standalone Spider-Man movie (which has been announced to be released on July 7th, 2017) Feige commented that "he is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe means that characters can go back and forth."
This means that some Avengers could appear in the standalone Spider-Man movie and that Spidey could appear in future MCU films. Now if only 20th Century Fox, Sony and Marvel could work together we could get an epic X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Avengers crossover... ah but a girl can dream, can't she?
