Rogue One - Trailer Breakdown

The Rogue One Trailer actually got me really pumped for the film, yes we know how the story ends, but I'm interested to see how we get there. Today I am going to breakdown the second trailer frame by frame, and hopefully point out some things you guys may have missed.

The trailer begins with (what I think looks like) an imperial shuttle landing on Jyn Erso's (Felicity Jones) home planet, as it lands Jyn's Father Galen (Mads Mikkelsen) watches from his farm and his voiceover states, "whatever I do, I do it to protect you." Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) and a bunch of Shadow Troopers walk towards the farm.

The trailer then cuts to a scene between Galen and a young Jyn, he asks her if she understands the point he made before which she does. Then the trailer cuts to a tense scene between Krennic with his Shadow Troopers and Galen as Jyn watches on as she hides in the long grass. Jyn then wakes up in a prison cell which she shares with another creature as a Stormtrooper passes by her cell door.

A Star Destroyer along with some TIE Fighters are looming over some unknown planet (probably where Jyn is being held prisoner), it looks as though Jyn is being transferred as she is then broken out by the rebels, although they may not have been rescuing her specifically, and Jyn is then helped out of her handcuffs.

A huge statue of a Jedi can be see as it lies on it side, Jyn looks out a window with a look of anticipation, and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) can be heard saying, "Our Rebellion is all that remains to push back the empire."  We then see a shot of the rebel base as Mon Mothma says, "We think you may be able to help us," as they are in the rebel base Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) asks Jyn about her Father.

We then find out that Jyn's Father helped build the Death Star as we see a scene with him in an Imperial base (an uniform) greeting Krennic with a bunch of Stormtroopers. We see another shot of the Death Star as it looms above a planet, while the Rebels are in a transport ship Jyn tells Cassian, "If my Father built that thing we need to find him." Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang) seems pretty happy about something as he says, "All right, How Many do I need?" as Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) smiles beside him and we see their transport take off.

K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) tells the team that they are requesting a call sign and one of the rebels comes up with Rogue One. There is a jump to lightspeed, then what I think is a planet which is about to be targeted by the Death Star, Krennic then has a scene with Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) in which he tells him, "The Power we are dealing with here is immeasurable,"  while we see a full shot of the death star and images from the imperial base.

The Rebels are discussing the power in which the Imperials now have due to the death star, an AT-ST is attacking the rebels alongside a bunch of Stormtroopers, there is a huge explosion, and Jyn and Cassian are dodging some heavy fire. Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) seems to be walking toward someone, Jyn's voice over states, "We have hope, rebellions are built on hope," as we see members of the Rebellion.

On the beach paradise planet a huge imperial base can be seen, the Rebels are running through the jungle, and then we see a scene with Jyn, Cassian in Imperial garb alongside K-2SO as Jyn states, "They have no idea we are coming. Chirrut is standing on a cliffside of a rocky planet next to a crouched Baze as X-Wings fly past them, Chirrut tells the Rebels to, "Take hold of this moment, the force is strong," as we see him take out a bunch of Stormtroopers with some help from Baze.

Cassian then stays alongside Jyn, "Make ten men feel like one hundred," then we cut to a scene with Rebel Ships fighting TIE Fighters on that rocky planet, back on the tropical planet Chirrut takes on a bunch of Stormtroopers (and some of them are Sandtroopers but I heard there name changed) with a blaster rifle as all the members of the squadron seem to be taking heavy fire and may be boxed into a corner.

Jyn runs into the base, X-Wings seem to be taking on some floating spacecraft, an X-Wing pilot appears on screen, and then the trailer cuts to X-wings trying to attack the Death Star. More explosions happen, this one looks like it is inside an Imperial base, K-2SO is in the pilot's seat, an imperial shuttle appears to be shooting at Jyn on the rocky planet we saw before, an Jyn tells the Rebellion at their base, "You're all Rebels aren't you?"

We then see part of a sandy world being annihilated by some weapon (possibly testing the Death Star), Darth Vader then appears fully on the screen as he makes a smoky entrance as he walks towards Krennic, then there is a scene where Krennic lords over Galen Erso in the rain.

A very happy looking Jyn is on a transport ship, we then have another scene with Saw Gerrera as he says "Save the Rebellion, save the dream." The Rebellions transport then takes on some AT-AT's on the tropical planet, on the ground Baze and Chirrut are also running from them as one just misses Baze by a hair.

Overall Thoughts

After watching this trailer multiple times I still really enjoy it, yes Star Wars isn't up there on the list of my all time favourite movies (mostly because Leia was never trained to be a jedi), but they are slowly winning me back by giving big important roles to women, so it's a step in the right direction for me.

I can't wait to see a story in this universe which doesn't revolve around the Skywalker family, it will be nice to see some new character and planets which we haven't seen before. I really enjoy the way the characters are portrayed in this film, the film looks visually stunning, and if they can deliver on this war film set in the Star Wars Universe then I will be happy.

But what do you think? Comment below to tell me your thoughts on the trailer, are you excited? Can you not really be bothered? All opinions are welcome below.

Mental Illness in TV and Film - Dementors

Image Source Dementors have haunted me ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban way back in 1999. I was a Pre-Teen who was pretty much unaware of the depression that was just around the corner, in a way this book prepared me for what was to come, and after multiple reads, it became my go-to reference when explaining my depression. First off let's give a brief outline of Dementors, these magical wraith-like creatures can generally be found guarding Azkaban Prison, sucking the happiness, hope, and peace out of everyone around them. If you have had a horrible life marked by loss and abuse (just like Harry) you are much more affected by them than someone who has not, as they also cause depression and despair in there victims. They can sense and taste fear, but thankfully they can't seem to tell people of the same build from each other, and they are able to communicate wit

Jessica Jones Episodes 1-2

[Courtesy of Marvel/Netflix] Jessica Jones launched this Friday and after a weekend of mostly binge watching I decided it was time to talk about it. I really enjoyed this show and will be giving my opinion on the first two episodes below. SPOILER warning for those who haven't watch any of these episodes as I will be analysing each episode. A.K.A Ladies Night                                                                           [Courtesy of Marvel/Netflix] So in the first episode Jessica (Krysten Ritter) is a loner, she stays from people as they just cause complications. We get a sense that she has done something, something dark, but we don't quite know what it could be. The day starts with an argument with a client who she throws through her door, she then narrates her typical New York day, and she ends it by spying on Luke Cage (Mike Colter). She wakes up in her apartment to find Malcolm

Thanksgiving

[Courtesy of Fox] So I'm Scottish and we don't get the whole Thanksgiving thing, but I have watched a lot of movies and television which give the rest of the world a nice little insight into this holiday. So you have time off work, you're not taking part in those crazy sales (which have also became a tradition over here, thanks), and you're stuffed from eating your weight in delicious foods. What do you watch? Harry Potter                                                                  [Courtesy of Warner Bros] So I don't know about you but nothing screams November more than our beloved Harry Potter, and there are eight movies for you to binge watch throughout the weekend. I just rewatched these and they hold up, you'll feel the magic, panic and feel relieved as the battle comes to a close. Witness Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), a poor orphan boy who lives in a cu
